UCLA Guided Meditation

Meditation is an effective way to manage anxiety, anger, and other emotions. Meditation is designed to teach individuals to focus on their breathing and to focus their attention on a singular focus. This act of focusing on breathing helps individuals to narrow their focus and therefore to control the cognitions or thoughts that may contribute to anxiety. Through mediation, you can learn specific behavioral management tools to help you self-regulate. Meditation is not easy and in fact, many people struggle to meditate when they first embark on this journey. It is important to remember that like exercise, training the mind is a process and endurance does and will increases over time. There are several resources to assist you in learning to meditate. I have utilized the resources at UCLA Guided Meditation and find them to be effective in learning the behavioral techniques of meditation.
