The Challenge of Just Being

As we embark upon the mindfulness challenge that is scheduled to begin September 7, 2017, I encourage readers to really think about what this means.  The primary goal of mindfulness is simply to "just be".  Instead of trying to escape this difficult moment, mindfulness principles allow us to just embrace this moment and feel the emotion.   I know for many people that it is difficult to deal with unpleasant emotions- anger, frustration, fear, or sadness.  But there is a lesson learned through every moment of your life and through the concept of mindfulness, you are able to just embrace the moment instead of escaping from it.  Life is finite and if we spend the majority of our time trying to move away from unpleasant moments, we will find that we have cheated ourselves of fully living our lives.  Just try - the challenge of being.
