Coping with COVID-19

Many of us are struggling with being quarantined at home. Here are some helpful tips or suggestions to embrace this time at home.



  •  1. Embrace this time- If your life has slowed down, embrace this time of rest and use if for relaxation and rejuvenation. If you are unemployed and seeking work, spend a portion of your day in job seeking activities and a portion doing an activity that relaxes your mind. 
  •  2. Practice Mindfulness- Start an online yoga class, Zoom with your friends, or incorporate daily walking into your routine. 
  •  3. Start a daily gratitude journal to remind yourself of your blessings. There may be times when you feel discouraged but you must always go back to the things that you are grateful for. Noted below is a video that helps me to remember that we must move away from looking at things as obligations versus opportunities. 
  •  4. Connect with others via Zoom or other technologies. Plan Zoom meetings, check-ins, and social events. Make it festive by dressing up, bringing snacks, and planning an interactive activity. 
  •  5. Write emails, send letters, or make telephone calls. This is a great time to bring back letter writing as a way of corresponding with people that you cannot see in person. When you receive a letter in the mail from a family member or friends, it is extra special due to the effort that goes into it.
  •  6. Take an online course. There are several free business courses or other type of coursework that is offered at minimal costs.
  •  7. Create a video and share it with your family and friends. 
  •  8. Sew masks and provide to people that are unable to obtain their own masks. This will hopefully help to manage the spread of COVID-19. 
  •  9. Exercise at home. Zoom, YouTube or other interactive platforms is a good starting place.
  • 10. Start each day with a positive affirmation to ground yourself for the rest of your day.
